hfc of 30, 72 is 6

6=30x +72y

30 5+ (72 -2)=6

x=5 , y =-2

  1. In lowest terms, 72 / 30 = 12 / 5.
  2. Notice that 72 / 12 = 6, and 30 / 5 = 6. Therefore the highest common factor is 6.
  3. For the equation 30x + 72y = 6, choose from the choices.
  4. Then x = 5, y = -2. (Q.E.D.)
