Logic Level 1

It's white's turn. If both sides are playing optimally, what is the minimum number of moves required for white to checkmate the black king?

The queen at e2 moves to e7 and the king at c7 moves to c6.

The bishop at f1 moves to g2 and the black king has been checkmated.

Hence 2 \boxed{2} moves is minimum.

And if the black king moves instead to c8, the white bishop also checkmates by moving to h3!

Nice problem.
