Since the gap between the two ages is 20 years, and Marvin has doubled his age over that time span, his age ten years from now must be 40, so his age now is 30 \boxed{30}

x + 10 = 2 ( x 10 ) , x = 30 x+10=2(x-10),x=30

P.S.Almost chose 35 before I noticed that 45 isn't an even number.
