Marvin's age is 2 5 \dfrac{2}{5} of his age 18 18 years from now. Find the present age of Marvin.

Let m m be Marvin's present age. Then

m = 2 5 ( m + 18 ) m = \dfrac{2}{5}(m+18)

5 m = 2 m + 36 5m = 2m + 36

3 m = 36 3m = 36

m = 12 m = 12

18 is 3/5 so, his age now is 18/3*2=12.
