x + y = 2 m \boxed{x + y = 2m}

x y = 2 n \boxed{x - y = 2n}

x + y + x y = 2 m + 2 n \boxed{x + y} + \boxed{x - y} = 2m + 2n

2 x = 2 m + 2 n 2x = 2m + 2n

x = m + n \color{#20A900}\boxed{x = m + n}

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

x + y = 2 m \boxed{x + y = 2m}

m + n + y = 2 m m + n + y = 2m

y = 2 m m n y = 2m - m - n

y = m n \color{#20A900}\boxed{y = m - n}

Subtract the 2 equations to get y=m-n.

Nope. 2y=m-n
