Let x be the length of the fish. Therefore, x = 30 + x 2 x = 30 + \frac{x}{2} ;

x x 2 = 30 \implies x - \frac{x}{2} = 30 ;

x 2 = 30 \implies \frac{x}{2} = 30 ; x = 60 \implies x = 60 . Therefore the length of the fish is 60 c m \boxed{60cm} . So simple isn't it.

Let L L be the length of the fish. Then we have

L = 30 + 1 2 L L= 30 + \dfrac{1}{2}L

1 2 L = 30 \dfrac{1}{2}L=30

L = 60 cm L=60~\text{cm}
