Let the squares have side length 1. Then the total area is 5, since the area of each square is 1.

There are two green triangles, each with a height of 1. One has a base of 1 and one a base of 2. The area of a triangle is 1/2 * base * height, so the area is 1/2 and 1, for a total green area of 1.5

The total yellow area is 5 - 1.5 = 3.5

So the ratio is 1.5:3.5 = 3:7
