Let the three sizes be small, medium and large. Since we are asked to find out the cost of the largest flower pot, let the number of the largest flower pot be 1 and that of the smaller and the medium one be 2. Let the cost of the smallest pot size be 'x'. then the cost of the medium sized will be:

                         x + 50% of x = 3/2 x

Similarly, the cost of the largest one would be:

                      3/2 x + 50% of 3/2 x = 9/4 x

Now, since the total cost is Rs. 290 and the number of each pot is mentioned above, according to it:

                            2(x) + 2(3/2 x) + 9/4 x = 290

on solving the equation, the value of x is 40. Substitute x in 9/4 x:

                       9/4 * (40) = 90

Hence cost of the largest is Rs. 90

You need to specify the number of each pot. If you just state the question like that, you could have 3 answers (90, 81.5625, 76.76471) depending on the number of each pot. For you to not need to state the number you could restate the question as something like "What is the biggest possible cost of the largest pot?"

Assuming is different. Mr Mehta, please read the question carefully. It is not at all mentioned that how many pots are there of which size. The question has been copied from somewhere else and the solutions also. According to mathematics, we have to solve questions based on the information mentioned.

Largest Pot = Rs. 90 90+2(60)+2(40) = 290.

This question can be solved on the basis of given answers.... or you have to assume the no. of pots. in given options if we take 90 then other 2 pots cost 60 and 40. if we take 2 pots of 40 and 2 of 60 and 1 is of 90 total cost is 290 . Thats it.

I solved it the same way as Mr. Mehta did it.
