Length of the dividing line

Algebra Level 2

A rectangular sheet of paper is 11 11 3 4 \frac{3}{4} inches long and 8 8 1 4 \frac{1}{4} inches wide. It is then folded diagonally so that the vertex on the upper right corner meets the vertex on the lower left corner, dividing the rectangle into two parts. What is the length of the dividing line in inches?

Give your answer to 2 decimal places.

The answer is 10.08.

My solution here is I cut a piece of paper with the actual dimension. I folded it diagonally so that the vertex of the upper right corner meets the vertex of the lower left corner. I measured the dividing line using a measuring tape. It is 10 inches.

Haha... Yup, I did the same thing... In fact I didn't use a ruler, I used another sheet of paper, and could tell that the answer must be around 10 or 11. Given the integral answer, and 3 choices.... ;-)
