Force on Ball!

A ball covers the hole of radius r r in a plane vertical wall (figure). The wall separates left side and right side which have different fluid pressure 3 p 3p and p p . With what force does the liquid press the ball to the hole? If force is n p π r 2 np \pi r^2 , find n n .

The answer is 2.

Net Force would be the difference of the forces acting from the LHS and the RHS, i.e F n e t = ( 3 p p ) ( π r 2 ) F_{net} = (3p-p)(\pi r^2) . So, n = 2 n=2

Why is the surface not 4Pir^2 ? (Sorry, typing this on phone)

@Winston Cahya Because , Pressure is defined as F o r c e p e r p e n d i c u l a r A r e a \dfrac{Force_{perpendicular}}{Area} . In our case the the perpendicular force corresponds to the area that projects to the Area of the circle
