2 solutions

Using cross multiplication:

13 + x 18 + x = 4 5 \frac{13+x}{18+x}=\frac{4}{5}

5 ( 13 + x ) = 4 ( 18 + x ) \Rightarrow 5(13+x)=4(18+x)

65 + 5 x = 72 + 4 x 65+5x=72+4x

72 65 = 5 x 4 x \Rightarrow 72-65=5x-4x

x = 7 x=\boxed{7}

31+2x = 5.9 [componendo-dividendo and cross-multiplication] ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... .... => 2x = 14 ... ... ... ... => x = 7
