Freak-tion!

An object of mass m = 2 kg m = \SI{2}{\kilo\gram} is lying on a rough inclined slope such that it is at rest. Find the magnitude of contact force acting on the object (in Newtons).

Details and Assumptions:

  • g = 10 m s 2 g=\SI{10}{\meter\per\second\squared}

  • Coefficient of friction ( μ \mu ) = 0.8

  • Angle of inclination θ = 3 0 \theta = 30 ^ \circ

The answer is 20.

The maximum value of friction is 0.8 2 10*cos(30) = 13.85 N

But, the force of gravity along the incline is 10 Newton.

So, frictional force on object = 10 N (not 13.85 N)

Now net contact force = resultant of normal reaction and frictional force

did d same way...................nice problem

In the first statement, why do you use coseno instead of sin?

isn't contact force just normal force?
