Chemistry Level 5

A larger version of the image above can be seen here .

Let A A denote the number of oxygen atoms in compound V \ce V , B B denote the degree of unsaturation of compound V \ce V , C C denote the degree of unsaturation of compound Y X 18 \ce {Y18} , find 10 A + 2 B + 5 C 10A+2B+5C .

Details and Assumptions :

  • The data is sufficient and there exists a unique set of compounds which satisfy this.

  • The degree of unsaturation is equal to the number of double bond equivalents (including rings).

  • Take major products until and unless specified. Also check the direction of the arrow mark for each reaction.

  • There is a compound N X 2 \ce { N2} in between the reaction, it is not nitrogen gas but its some other compound.

  • Start from where its mentioned in the problem, clues are present all over the page and also try and find all the compounds.

The answer is 80.
