We all know, sin \sin function ranges between 1 -1 and 1 1 .

So, the domain of the inverse function sin 1 \sin^{-1} is [ 1 , 1 ] [-1,1] .

1 + 1 = 2 1+1=2

What is easier than this?

i think it should be mentioned that a and b are positive integers. Otherwise if a = -1 and b = -1, the range would again be [-a,b] i.e [1,-1] (which is true) and a+b would equal -2.
