Fundamental Interaction

The above left is a simplified strength-distance graph of four fundamental interactions, also called fundamental forces or interactive forces. The above right is the Standard Model of elementary particles, with the fermions in the first three columns, the gauge bosons in the fourth column and the Higgs boson in the fifth column. Which of the following statements is correct?

a) The strong interaction is the strongest inside the atomic nucleus.

b) The weak interaction works only within a very short distance.

c) Electromagnetic interaction and gravitation work in almost infinite distance.

a), b) and c) a) only c) only b) only

This problem can be done by reading the graph directly. You don't need the particles.

a) is true as you can see the red curve is highest around the sizes around a nucleus.

b) is true because the green curve is only above zero at the shortest distances.

c) is true because the blue and orange curves, though low, extend beyond the largest distances shown.
