If someone meets another person and they fall in love, they become a couple, which explains 1 + 1 = 1 1+1=1

And for the love quote "Without you I am nothing" goes for 2 − 1 = 0 2-1=0

:P

When there is great bonding between the couple, then 1 + 1 = 1 1+1=1 holds for their true love.

If one is separated from the other or when they breakup, each of them feels empty ( ϕ ) (\phi) without the other, then holds 2 − 1 = 0 2-1=0 .
