We start with compound A :

On heating it with 1,1-Diethoxyethene, we get compound X . It undergoes the next set of reactions sequentially:

• In presence of a mild oxidising agent an unstable intermediate is formed. This intermediate reacts with compound A on mild heating to give Y

• Y reacts with another oxidising agent (slightly stronger than the previous one) to generate another unstable intermediate. On reaction with and excess amount of $Ph_{3}PCH_{2}$ generates compound B . We do not allow B to undergo any further reactions.

We now analyse compound B 's spectra. Let $\alpha$ be the number of signals obtained in H-NMR and $\beta$ be the number of signals obtained in the $C_{13}$ NMR.

What is the value of $\alpha \times \beta - 3$ ?
