1 solution

Let A A be Ana's age and M M be Maria's age. Then we have

A M = 2 1 \dfrac{A}{M}=\dfrac{2}{1} \implies A = 2 M A=2M ( 1 ) \color{#D61F06}(1)

and

A 8 = 13 + M 8 A-8=13+M-8 \implies A = 13 + M A=13+M ( 2 ) \color{#D61F06}(2)

Substitute ( 1 ) \color{#D61F06}(1) in ( 2 ) \color{#D61F06}(2) , we have

2 M = 13 + M 2M=13+M

M = 13 M=13

It follows that A = 2 ( 13 ) = 26 A=2(13)=26

The sum of their ages 10 10 years from now is A + 10 + M + 10 = 26 + 10 + 13 + 10 = 59 A+10+M+10=26+10+13+10=\boxed{59}
