Let y = AS = SC. By the Law of Cosines, 4 = x^2+y^2-2 x y cos(C). However, Cos(C) = (2y) / (4 x). Therefore, by substitution, 4 = x^2 + y^2 - 2 x y (2 y)/(4*x), or x^2 = 4, or x = 2.

AO = 2*ST = 4

now

AO = OB = OC = 4 = 2x

x = 2

How is A O = 2 × S T AO=2\times ST ?

BC=4x hence OA=OB=2x. Now OT =BT-OB=3x-2x=x or T is the midpoint of OC. (The diagram is misleading); hence OA = 2ST.
