Galileo's experiment

Rita is very naughty. She often drops something or the other. Once she held a small stone in one of her hand and a spoon in her other hand. She dropped both the things at the same time (without the delay of a second). Which will touch the ground first.

Neglect air resistance.

They will never touch the ground Stone Information inadequate Spoon Both will reach at the same time

1 solution

Let the time taken by spoon and stone be a & b seconds. Let the heigh from which they fall is d units.

So, d = 1 2 g a 2 = 1 2 g b 2 d=\frac{1}{2}ga^2=\frac{1}{2}gb^2

We get a=b.
