The slope of Ramp A is 8 60 = 2 15 . \frac{8}{60} = \frac{2}{15}.

The slope of Ramp B is 5 40 = 1 8 . \frac{5}{40} = \frac{1}{8}.

1 8 = 2 16 \frac{1}{8} = \frac{2}{16} and 2 16 < 2 15 \frac{2}{16} < \frac{2}{15} so Ramp A has a steeper slope.

If the orange sliver is added onto Ramp A, both have the same slope of 1 8 \dfrac{1}{8} , when it is removed, obviously the original Ramp A get's steeper, hence it has a greater slope.
