ABC is a triangle. AB = 5 cm, AC = √41 cm and BC = 8 cm. AD is perpendicular to BC. What is the area (in cm2) of triangle ABD?

Using, heron's formula, find s. After that one can find the area of triangle ABC(=16). Now, area of triangle ABC= 1/2 * AD * BC given, BC=8, we are able to find AD, Then in triangle ABD, Using pythagorus theorem, find BD. Using ad as height and BD as base, we can find area of triangle ABD.=(1/2 * BD * AD)= (1/2 * 3 * 4)=6
