Your friend has some birds and four-legged animals in a small zoo at his farm. You ask him, "How many birds and animals are there?" Your friend answers, "Well, I actually don't remember exactly how many birds or animals, but I remember there were 36 heads and 100 legs."

Can you figure out how many birds your friend has in his zoo?

Every bird and animal have got one head. But the birds have got 2 legs and the animals have got 4 legs. The question says that there is 36 heads. That means, there are 36 birds and animals combined. Therefore, if we assume that the number of the birds is x, then the equation stands like this- 2x+4(36-x)=100 Therefore, we get x=22 So, the number of birds is 22. :)
