A gradian is an alternative measure of angles, rather than degrees. Whilst a right angle contains 90 degrees, it contains 100 gradians.
Suppose 5 yadians plus 2 zadians equals 308 gradians, whilst 6 yadians subtract 16 zadians equals 18 degrees. How many gradians are equal to the sum of 1 yadian plus 1 zadian?

One yadian = y degrees One zadian = z degrees
5y + 2z = 308 gradians
6y - 16z = 18 / 90 * 10 = 20 gradians
20y + 8z = 1232 - Multiply first equation by four.
3y - 8z = 10 - Divide second equation by two.
23y = 1242 - add equations together
y = 54 gradians
z = (3*54-10)/8 = 19 gradians y + z = 19 + 54 = 73 gradians
