The line goes through 6 squares

Then Imagine you have a 9 x 28 grid (9 as y)

Then how many squares will the line go through if the line formulae is the same as the picture ?

The answer is 18.

Let the line makes an angle $α$ with the $x$ axis. Then $\tan α=\dfrac{1}{2}=\dfrac{9}{n}$ , where $n$ is the required answer. Hence $n=2\times 9=\boxed {18}$
