T = age of the teacher
G = age of the grandson
S = age of the son
From the problem,
T + G = 7 3 or G = 7 3 − T (equation 1)
S = T − 2 4 (equation 2)
S = G + 2 5 (equation 3)
Now equate equation 2 and equation 3, we have
T − 2 4 = G + 2 5
Substitute equation 1 to the above equation.
T − 2 4 = 7 3 − T + 2 5
After simplifying, we get
T = 6 1
T + GS = 73
T – S = 24
S – GS = 25
add all equations 2T = 166 then T = 61
if required individual ages can be calculated.
son+24=teacher.
son-25=grandson.
if son=x.
grandson+teacher=73
x+24(means teacher)+x-25(means grandson)=73
x+24+x-25=73
2x+24=73+25
2x+24=98
2x=98-24
2x=74
x=74÷2
x=37
x=son.
Therefore, son=37
teacher=son+24
teacher=37+24
teacher=61

let,
teacher=x
grandson=73-x
son=x-24
again,
son=73-x+25=98-x
So,
x-24=98-x
so teachers age is 61 years.
