you first break down $4.50 in two and multiply both by 12, so it will be 50 cent 12=600 cents or 6 dollars and 4 12=48 dollars then you add the 6 dollars and 48 dollars together to get $54.
Cost of 1 gallon of gas = 4.50 $
Cost of 12 gallons of gas = (4.50)(12)
Cost of 12 gallons of gas = 54 $ (US)
it is a direct proportion. If one gallon cost $4.50, the how much will 12 gallon. Gallon $ 1 4.50 12 ?=x Cross multiply........ => 1 x = 4.50 12 1x = 54 x = 54/1 So as x is equal to the price of 12 gall gas =54
PRICE OF GAS PER GALLON=4.5 SO,12 GALLONS COST=12(4.5)=54
its really simple... price of gas per gallon is $4.50.. this implies that cost of 12 such gallons will be 4.50*12= $54.... :)
Can you please tell the correct rule is DMAS or PEMDAS

Both are the same. You can use any one of them :)
total cost = price per gallon * total gallon = $4.50 * 12(gallons) = $54
1 gallon price =$ 4.50 12 gallons price = $ (4.50 x12) = $ 54
Just multiply the price of the gas with the quantity .

Per gallon the price of gas costs $4.50...so for 12 gallons we can write 12*4.50=54$
