Since Gwen's desk is the third from the front and second from the back, that means that there are two desks in front of Gwen and one desk behind her. Additionally, since there is one desk to her left and four desks to her right, there are five columns of desks in the classroom excluding the column Gwen is in. Hence, there are six columns and four rows in Gwen's classroom, and therefore, Gwen's classroom has 24 desks.
