Divide 40 by half, also divide 80 by half and subtract 100 from the sum of those answers , what is the value?.

40 ÷ 1 2 + 80 ÷ 1 2 100 = 40 × 2 + 80 × 2 100 = 80 + 160 100 = 240 100 = 140 40 \div \dfrac{1}{2} + 80 \div \dfrac{1}{2} - 100\\ = 40 \times 2 + 80 \times 2 - 100\\ =80 + 160 - 100\\ =240 - 100 \\ =\boxed{140}

Divide 40 by half ( i.e divide 40 by 1/2) , the answer is 80
In such a way divide 80 by half , the answer is160
then subract 100 from the sum of 80 and 160,
so 240-100 = 140
therefore the answer is 140
