Let the six people be A B C D E F each person shakes with the others once so A shakes 5 times, B shakes 4 because he handshake with A, C shakes 3, D shakes 2, E shakes 1 and for F he has already shaken with everybody. 5 + 4 + 3 + 2 + 1 = 15.
