It can be considered as a graph in which each carbon represents a vertex and the bond between two carbon represents an edge.

Now, as in diamond, every carbon is bonded to 4 other carbon, degree of each vertex(carbon) is 4.

So, T o t a l D e g r e e Total Degree considering n carbon atoms is 4 n 4n .

Now, E d g e s = T o t a l D e g r e e 2 Edges = \frac{Total Degree}{2}

E d g e s = 4 n 2 Edges = \frac{4n}{2} = 2 n = 2n

Therefore, No. Of bonds = 2 mole
