2 men and 8 boys can do it in 80 hrs.
2 men and 3 women can do it in 120 hrs.
How long would it take 5 men and 12 boys to complete it?

3 solutions

Let m,w,b hours of work by one man, woman, boy to complete the work .

Then equations are

1/m + 3/w + 4/b = 1/96....................(1)

2/m + 8/b = 1/80...................(2)

2/m + 3/w = 1/120.................(3)

(3) + 2(2) - (1)... =... 2/m + 3/w + 2 * ( 2/m + 8/b ) - ( 1/m + 3/w + 4/b)

5/m + 12/b.... =.... 1/120 + 2/80 - 1/96.... =..... 11/480

This guy is simply cheating the questions from Resonance modules without crediting them. And above that, he writes "Follow me for more cool problems". I simply can't get it :~:

How did you write 1/m + 3/w + 4/b=1/96 Other two equuations...if sum to x + y + z=k... It is not neccessary 1/x + 1/y + 1/z = 1/k.. plzz explain this...

( 1m + 3w + 4b ) * 96 = ( 2m + 8b ) * 80 = ( 2m + 3w ) * 120

9w - 2m = 8b 9w + 2m = 16b

3w = 4b m = 2b

( 11b ) * x = 6 * 80

Can someone explain this in little easier methods

If any one complets a work in D days, in one day he completes 1/D of the full work. So the equations are set for work done in one day. these are the equations I have put in my solution.

Quantum of Work =q,q=(m+3w+4b)96, q=(2m+8b)80, q=(2m+3w)120 which yield: m=2(b), w=4(b)/3 & q=960(b). Thus, n= q/(5m+12b) =480/11

Nice solution
