Height and Growth

Logic Level 2

When Sam was at the age of 8 years, he hammered a nail into a large tree to mark his height. If the tree grows 2 cm/year, how much higher would the nail be after 5 years?

5 cm higher 8 cm higher 0 cm higher 10 cm higher

How much high the tree goes it doesn't matter. Let us assume that the initial position is at x x . After 5 years the tree will grow 2 × 5 = 10 c m 2\times 5 = 10 ~ cm that means the whole tree grows 10 cm and not only it's bark. So after 5 years also the position of x x will not change with respect to tree.

Trees grow by their top and this is the case.
