Stone Stone Stone the Boat

I am going home on my boat after a long fishing day, but I broke my paddle and all I have left in the boat is a few stones. In order to go South, in which direction should I throw the stones?

West East North South

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. If the boat is still, then throwing the stones north imparts a southward velocity on the boat to conserve momentum. So throw it North to go South!
