6 of the same right triangles make up an equilateral triangle, and 6 of the same equilateral triangles make up a hexagon.

Area of Hexagon : area of Shaded Triangle
= number of STs that can be contained in a Hexagon : 1
= 6 × 6 : 1
= 36 : 1

I think it's easier to see it this way.

I thought people would understand it better if I showed all the divisions

In the image it can be seen that the hexagon can be divided 36 such triangles. There fore answer is 36:1.
