Holiday Feast

Logic Level 3

At a holiday dinner party, the menu consisted of the following items: Turkey, Mashed Potatoes, Pumpkin Pie, and Cake.

90% had Turkey
80% had Mashed Potatoes
70% had Pumpkin Pie
60% had Cake

Everyone had at least one item, and no one had all four items.

What percentage of people had at least one of the two desserts?

70% 90% 80% 100%

90% + 80% + 70% +60% = 300%

--- or ---

90 + 80 + 70 + 60 = 300 people

So, some people must have been counted multiple times (duplicates or triplicates)

Because 300 / 100 = 3, we know that everyone was counted exactly 3 times.

If everyone was counted 3 times, that means that everyone had 3 items.

So, everyone had both desserts.

I am still confused. What does "desserts" in your question mean? Does "desserts" only Pumpkin Pie and Cake?

Yes. Pumpkin Pie and Cake are"desserts", and are the ones (desserts) available on this this menu.

I recommend that you google "dessert" and try one sometime, you'll probably really enjoy it for your first time!
