Latent heat of vaporisation of steam is much higher compared to specific heat capacity of water. Hence for a fixed mass, more energy is released.

Here I would like 2 add something more..

Boiling water when comes in contact with the skin, some of it becomes vapour & in this process it takes away some heat from the body. On the other hand steam cannot do dt because it is already in the gaseous state.

Hence, burns from boiling water are not that severe as compared to that of steam.

here... if you take a look at boiling water...water heated at max rate also nit reaches the max temperature 100*c..but steam can cross more than 100 *c .

here water vapor with force means that it is steam.

steam would create more burns because .....................................................................

boiling water would reach only till 100 c but steam would cross 100 c..
