This week Bob puts gas in his truck when the tank was about half empty. Five days later, Bob puts gas again when the tank is about three fourths full. If altogether Bob bought 24 gallons of gas, how many gallons does the tank hold ?

24 = (half empty) + (three fourths full)
= (half empty tank) + (quarter empty tank)
= V/2 + V/4
= 3V/4
V = 4 x 24 / 3
= 32 gallons
