How does soap wash your hands?

Chemistry Level 2

Here are some hings you should know before doing this

  • Water is a polar molecule.
  • Soap has both a polar and non-polar side to it.
  • oil is non-polar.
  • water and oil won't have anything to do with each other.
The grime and oil get attracted to the polar end of the soap and get dragged down the drain. The oil and grime hang out with the non-polar side of the soap while the water pulls the soap and grime down the drain. The water sticks to the soap and oil molecules and wash the oil down the drain.
