That's actually pretty interesting; I have to admit I didn't even know that theorem.

I used this theorem too! But actually I don't know it's name LOL

Can tell me why is it called "British Flag Theorem" ?

Because if you put P at the origin (0,0) the diagram looks like the Union Jack (British Flag).

The answer must be 40 I can't think that I have to compute root 40

The British flag theorem can be easily derived from Pythagoras theorem. You can try and drop perpendiculars on the sides and assume the values of sides.

Hence you can find the British flag theorem and verify its truth.

It looks like a British flag, a Union Jack.

You can use a calculator if you want - if that's what you mean.

I have done it by GeGebra. You down load from GeoGebra.org a free-ware

I don't think so. You could use the British Flag Theorem.

Point P divides AB horizontally into two pieces a a and b b , and vertically into two pieces c c and d d .

Now C P 2 = b 2 + d 2 = ( b 2 + c 2 ) + ( a 2 + d 2 ) ( a 2 + b 2 ) = 5 2 + 8 2 7 2 = 40. |CP|^2 = b^2+d^2=(b^2+c^2)+(a^2+d^2)-(a^2+b^2)=5^2+8^2-7^2=40. So C P = 40 6.325 . CP = \sqrt{40} \approx \boxed{6.325}.
