It is a one - digit number. We want smallest "four" digit number -_-
@Nihar Mahajan :- Bonus:- 2008.
I kept on thinking how to make it 9999! the narration should have been largest possible 4 digit number.
Step 1: 9 8 0 5 By bringing the stick in 8 to 0 .
Step 2: 9 9 8 5 By bringing the stick in 8 to 0 .
As always, the tricky part is in justifying that you have indeed obtained the largest possible.
That aspect is often more important than just finding out what you think the answer should be.
Really Easy!
In response to challenge master: Yeah! That's obviously is the trickiest part . . .
can't it be 13005 ?

Move the left bottom matchstick of the first 8 to the middle of second 0 to get 8 .Then move the left bottom matchstick of the first zero to its middle to get 9 .Thus the required number is 9 9 8 5 .
Bonus Question: Applying the same rules, can you find the smallest four digit positive integer instead?
