I have a whole orange and a knife. I decided to cut the orange. I can use the knife maximum 3 times in a straight line. Now, what is the maximum number of pieces that I can make from this orange?


The answer is 8.

Slice vertically twice and horizontally once.

First slice it in half. Then slice it to form a cross. This will give you four equal pieces. Slice it to form a cross to get eight pieces
