How many seconds do you want to solve?

System shown in image above is released from rest. Find the horizontal component velocity of center of mass when rod makes an angle 37 degrees with the vertical.

Note that block is not sticked to string.

All surfaces are friction less, mass of block is 66.25, mass of beed is 102, length of the rod = 12.5, gravity is vertically downwards with gravitational acceleration 10.

Take beed, rod and block as system.

The answer is 0.

No force in horizontal direction on the system.

Therefore, horizontal component of velocity of center of mass is zero

A really nice question Kushal. It is a simple question but it has lots of distractions which makes it tricky. :)

Yep, that's why I added those things there.

Could you give me a diagram of how the block will move ? What is the use of bead ? How does the bead move ?

Could you tell me the resources you use ? Books, website, pdfs, etc..

I had my eureka moment when i read the word 'horizontal'. But what about the vertical part? Can you please write a solution for that?

Because there is no horizontal external force on the system. The spped will be zero.
