clearly there are 4 small triangles and four triangles consisting of two smaller triangles,making it 8 triangles in all.

to make a triangle we require 3 points and we have total of 5 points. so answer is 5C3 but but 2 since their are 2 diagonals and they are formed with three points . so we need to exclude those 2 possiblities(2 diagonals) and hence final answer is = 5C3 -2 = 10 -2 = 8....
