If iron is 0.35% mass of one hemoglobin molecule, then ( 0.0035 ) ( 65000 g / m o l ) = 227.5 g / m o l (0.0035)(65000 g/mol) = 227.5 g/mol . Each iron atom is 56 g/mol, which computes to 227.5 g / m o l 56 g / m o l 4 \frac{227.5 g/mol}{56 g/mol} \approx 4 atoms.
