2 solutions

x x = Bill's age now

2 x 2x = when he is twice as old as he is now

2 x 60 2x-60 = 60 years younger than he will be when he is twice as old as he is now

x = 3 ( 2 x 60 ) x=3(2x-60)

x = 36 x=36

Let x x be his age now.

x = 3 ( 2 x 60 ) x = 3(2x-60)

x = 6 x 180 x = 6x - 180

5 x = 180 5x = 180

x = 36 x = \boxed{36}
