How to correct this?

Level pending

I can correct the following sum by adding m line/s and there are n way/s to do so. If m is as small as possible, then find m+n?

6 / 3 - 8 = 10

Note: A valid equality must be formed.

The answer is 3.

The least number of lines you need to add is 1 so m=1. There are 2 ways to do so (n=2) - either adding a line to the minus sign so that it becomes a plus sign; or adding a line to the divide sign so that it turns into a times sign.

Hence m+n = 1 + 2 = 3 \boxed{3} .
