Hydrogen bonds can form when hydrogen is bonded to an electronegative atom like O,N, or F. In the compounds ( C H 3 ) 3 N and C 3 H 8 hydrogen is bonded to carbon, and in F 2 there is no hydrogen at all. Acetic acid C H 3 C O 2 H has an O-H bond, so the hydrogen from one molecule can interact with the oxygen of a neighboring molecule.
