I Can't Even Drive Yet

Suppose you are driving a car on a straight highway, what type of friction does the road apply on the tire?

Note : There is no skidding. The tires roll smoothly.

Only static friction Only kinetic friction Kinetic and rolling friction Rolling and static friction Only rolling friction

Well, obviously there's rolling friction, because the tires are rolling.

Static friction is also applied because since the tires roll smoothly (i.e. pure rolling), the contact point of the tire and road is always at rest. Static friction is applied to objects which are at rest but have a tendency to move.
