I haven't studied about logs yet

A log of wood is led at the ground as in the fig (a) what will the change in potential energy in position (b) as compared to (a). If the mass of the log is 500 kg and its length is 20 m. (Assume that initial potential energy is 0 .)

48000 J 50000 J 51000 J 49000 J

The potential energy is measured from the center of mass. So we will take height = 10m

the value of g is 9.8

The increase in PE is equal to the work done.

W=(mgl)/2 .(by integrating)

Let g=9.8,knowing the value of m,g,l.We can calculate PE

PE=49000J
